Tallgrass History

The decision to found Tallgrass Brewing Company was made by Jeff Gill and his wife Tricia on April 8, 2006. Tricia had asked Jeff THAT question: “What do you want to do with the rest of your life?” Jeff had been thinking about that exact question quite a bit. “I want to start a microbrewery!” Jeff answered. He had been an avid homebrewer for six years and loved to brew beer that people enjoyed.

Our Taphouse

Tallgrass Brewing Company was founded in 2007 with goal of bringing quality craft beers to the Midwest. Tallgrass, located in the Flint Hills near Manhattan, Kansas, now offers a full line of award-winning craft beers. In 2010 Tallgrass declared its ìCanifestoî and switched from bottles to exclusively 16oz. cans. In 2011 they produced Velvet Rooster, the worldís first Belgian-style tripel in a can.

In 2015 Tallgrass will move into its new 60,000 square foot brewing facility, tripling the capacity of its original brewery and establishing it as one of the Midwestís premier brewers.
